Project Summary
Short Summary
To date, it is now 5th week of MCO, there has been overwhelming support from ordinary Malaysian citizens to aid our frontliners with potentially life-saving essential PPEs; in particular face shields. This citizen driven initiative has united the nation under one cause to help keep our frontliners safe and it a true reflection of Malaysian solidarity in these unpredictable times.
We, from the Open Source Community Fight Against COVID19, have been helping to coordinate, communicate and consolidate efforts behind the scenes to ensure resources are managed properly and to hopefully reduce redundancy amongst all the different volunteer initiatives that currently exist.

At this moment, we see that there is a great demand from the general public to obtain these face shields to protect themselves and their love ones too. We get multiple requests daily from the public to purchase these face shields. Therefore, we are glad to announce this initiave to provide these essential protective equipments to the general public.

You can use this face shields as an additional protection over your face mask when you are going out during your essential purchases. The face shields will provide additional protection over saliva droplets or sneezes.

How much do these Face Shields Cost?
To be able to mass produce this face shields for the general public at a relatively low price, we need to proceed with plastic injection mould. Your backings will help finance the mould making, material, production and distribution of the face shields.
Each backing of RM35. You will get 10 face shields for yourself and you will also sponsor another 10 face shields to the public hospital, Klinik Kesihatan, police and other frontliners. We will need your support to help us realise this production.
Are these Face Shields reusable?
Yes, you may disinfect your face shields with a simple wash of soapy water. The plastic sheets can be replaced with any A4 tranparency / rigid PVC sheets. We will provide instructions together on how to disinfect your face shields
Face Shields Production and Delivery
We hope to be able to start delivery 1-2 weeks after the campaign ends.
If you know someone in need of some face shields, help us share this initiative to them.
Disclaimer: This product design is made to cater for the everyday usage of simple tasks.
Hi Christopher.
The project do not need to hit the target for us to start producing.
As we are speaking now. The mould works will begin as soon as Pitch In can release the money. We have been applying for the release around a week ago as we want to carry out work concurrently. There were so many holidays in between and it complicates things a little.
The mould work will cost approximately RM12,000 and with the balance RM3,000, we should be able to to produce units for everyone who backed this project.
And also since we already have the mould, we will continue the 2nd phase of the production (or continue extension of the pitch in), instead of just letting it go just like that. We will continue to push for it.
Currently, without an actual unit to show to people, its hard to garner support. So that is what we are trying to achieve here with this RM15,771.
Cheng Huat.
I think it's obvious this project won't hit the target, so what's going to happen to the funds collected?
